AirBnB For Beginners

July 7, 2016

loungeFor those of you new to it, this is an alternative, competitively priced, easy to use, well set up, provider of homely  options of accommodation.  AirBnB, check it out here:

It’s an online booking platform where individuals let out their spare room, or their whole apartment or house.  I’ve used it in Asia and now in Africa but it’s active in 191 countries around the world.

The Benefits of AirBnB include:

1 The Benefits of AirBnB include:
1.1 It feels like a real home-away-from-home, cause it actually is.
  • generally, they’re cheaper than hotels
  • you have the option to cook
  • all basic equipment and household needs are provided for sleeping and cooking eg. bedding, stove, fridge, crockery, heating,
  • there’s normally good quality wifi at no extra cost
  • some, as the name suggests, provide breakfast (not all though)
  • if there’s no one else living in, there will normally be someone to meet you on arrival to provide instructions, explain the location of local conveniences etc
  • you get a feel of what it’s like to live like a local as you’re staying in a real home
  • if you’re staying in a room-only accommodation you then get the bonus of having someone to chat with and provide advice on all those local questions you might have

It feels like a real home-away-from-home, cause it actually is.

NB. You can sign up/register while on the road but you need to be able to provide a scanned copy of a passport or drivers license.

It’s all about nice, trusting  people opening up their home to you. So it’s hopefully only nice, trustworthy people using the service.  The owners have the option not to accept your request. And post the vacancy, you both get to write reviews on each other, all in an attempt to keep things good for everyone.

A four hour (ish) walk into the hills at the end o A four hour (ish) walk into the hills at the end of the Anniseed Valley Road. The walk encompasses crossing the river multiple times, going past a few historic copper mines, through beautiful native bush and some steep scrambly climbs.
I find it quite hard getting back into reality aft I find it quite hard getting back into reality after an adventure, but this was a such a lovely help towards my transition in the office this morning. The addition of the elephant on my wall was an especially nice touch which I will gaze at longingly inbetween tasks.
Another lovely glass of sweet red, then Sarah? Another lovely glass of sweet red, then Sarah?
Just a wee tumble in the sand. Just a wee tumble in the sand.
