Traveling is very much about fully engaging the senses in the current space and time in an attempt to file away that moment’s reality for future use. Travelers are gathering together for themselves their own collection of facts, fiction, images, and puzzles. A source of memories to be brought out later; for sharing, to foster contemplation and to provide the fodder for comparisons.
Gathering Stores
Like a squirrel stocking up for the winter, travelers move on from one experience to the next to keep refreshing their store of material. Change is the way to discover new provisions and keep the hounds of normalcy and the mundane away.
Some would name it an unhealthy life, one devoid of 5-year plans, monetary gain, and material possessions. It seems unrealistic, a life of little responsibility and no real sense of direction.
Others worship it as a deliverance from the norm, an escape from the boring with all strings tying them to the conventional severed.
